It has been more or less 1.5 years since The First Magic Convention in Indonesia took place. The historical Magic convention (konvensi sulap) was Garuda Merlion Magic Convention, which lasted from the 11th of April 2012 to the 13th of April 2012. It was a successful collaboration between Semarang Magic Community and Singapore International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 115 (The Great Wong Ring). This first Magic Convention in Indonesia was held in Semarang city, Central Java Province and attended by Indonesian magicians and Singaporean magicians. Garuda Merlion Magic Convention consisted of magic shows (show sulap) by Singaporean magicians and Indonesian magicians, magic lectures by Singaporean and Indonesian master magicians, magic competition with Singaporean master magicians as juries, and magic dealer sessions.
The competition juries during this first magic convention in Indonesia were Mr. John Teo (President of IBM 115 Singapore), Mr. Gician Tan (Singaporean Senior Master Magician), and Mr. Jeremy Tan (The 8th AMA FISM Close Up Champion in Hong Kong on December 2011). Winners of the magic competition received the IBM 115 Award.
News about the Garuda Merlion Magic Convention appear in two languages (English and Indonesian) in foreign and domestic medias such as:
